Plan. Manage. Execute.

Winwood Court - Nottingham City Homes

The Project

Beyond Consult worked with Nottingham City Homes to deliver a unique scheme, linking two existing high rise towers to a 44 bed new build Extra Care facility. The aim of the scheme is to create a larger community retirement village, which allows residents to stay within the scheme as their needs develop.  The works involved new external wall Insulation, replacement heaters, new windows and enclosed balconies to the towers and the construction of the new building in the middle.

What we did

Beyond consult have be involved the scheme since Reba stage 3 and have worked with all key stakeholders to ensure its successful delivery. This scheme had several parties been inputting into it including the local residents who lived within the towers, the client and funding provider for the refurbishment of the two towers.

We were heavily involved in the build-up of the budget and the ultimate negotiation with the main contractor, value engineering the scheme with the end user prior to finalising the contract. The scheme also had late design changes due to the impact of Grenfell incident which took place within the latter part of the design phase.

During the scheme Construction we were not only responsible for reporting on progress, costs and the contract administration but also heavily involved with the resident liaison and the management of 190 residents which lived in the towers. We were regularly attending weekly coffee mornings and communication meetings to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

During the works on the towers there was a discovery of a bat roost which required urgent design changes and a large delay on the project, which was to be negotiated by us and ultimately agreed with the end client, even with this being the case we were still able to deliver this project within the allocated budget  through scheme value engineering .

On the Winwood Project Beyond beat our expectations and managed not only the
project contract but also supported with resident consultation and
communication which ensured the project was successful.
