What we did
The refurbishment project at Kilton Forest Golf Course’s Clubhouse reduced carbon emissions by more than 70%, avoiding over 43 tonnes of CO2eq emissions a year. This was completed by replacing the outdated heating system and utilising energy efficiency measures.
The construction works involved removing the existing oil heating system and associated equipment then replacing it with a new, highly efficient heating system. Installing new Air Source Heat Pumps and adding insulation in the ceiling voids. All of the single glazed windows were replaced with double glazing with new solar panels added to help reduce electricity consumption supported by all lighting being upgraded to LED bulbs. This was then all monitored and managed via a new building management system which could remotely feedback the improvements in real time.
Beyond was actively involved throughout the scheme firstly through the support in writing the bid, providing cost plans and project programmes and then through its delivery as the NEC Project Manager. We completed not only the contract administration of the NEC 3 but also supported the contractor with concise decision making to support the short programme.
Noting that one of the most important measures of success on a decarbonisation scheme is not just the works itself but also the ongoing use of the building. We ensured that training was in place for all staff and that each subcontractor advised on the best use of the system to ensure maximum efficiency.
Beyond utilised the Pagabo framework on this project and recommended its use for the procurement using the Medium Works Framework. The project was a great success and paved the way for Beyond being the main Project Support for Bassetlaw's Decarbonisation projects moving forward.
