Canal Refurbishment - Chesterfield Canal Trust

The Project

The Chesterfield Canal Trust (CCT) are a charity who work to maintain and reinstate the chesterfield canal running from Staveley to Gainsborough. Beyond have been supporting CCT with Project Management, Commercial and Planning Services to bring complete funding bids and section completions of canal refurbishment.

What we did

Beyond have been working with the Chesterfield Canal Trust since 2021 supporting them with the original funding application for the 2021 Townsfund bid application.

Beyond have provided programme creation, procurement & contract advice and support to create the funding bid application document which was submitted in December 2021 and was ultimately accepted in April 2022.

Since the funding has been placed, Beyond have provided project management support to ensure the scheme remains on programme, these services the progression of the legal documents for land purchasing and the development of scopes and procurement packages for sub-contractors.

The ongoing support we continue to provide CCT has enabled the scheme to now be in RIBA stage 3 and collation the development packages. The collation of this tender pack has required the approval of the charity board which Beyond has now been invited to sit on to support them contract and construction knowledge as they begin to start work on site.

We have always been keen supporters of the Chesterfield project and continue to work CCT often at a charitable rate to support the scheme and bring the old canal back to its former glory
